Every request judged against the rule that applies to it

One process for donations, sponsorships and charitable giving, with the thresholds that apply where the request came from.

  • Thresholds and approval rules by region, request type and amount, so a $500 community donation does not run the process a $50,000 sponsorship needs
  • Forms that ask what FCPA and Bribery Act exposure requires, including whether a public official is connected to the recipient
  • Requests submitted before the commitment is made, from wherever the employee is
GAN Integrity provides flexible policy based forms for your donation and sponsorship requests

The routine ones clear, the exposed ones reach a reviewer

Rules move requests to the person who owns the decision, with what they need already attached.

  • Routing on amount, region and recipient type, so requests do not queue in a shared inbox
  • Required documents, attestations and legal review triggered by your criteria
  • Escalation when a request crosses a threshold you set

The recipient's record, not just the request

What your organisation already knows about an organization, on the record before the money is approved.

  • A donation attaches to the recipient's third-party record, alongside any diligence, contract or conflict already on it
  • Repeat giving to the same recipient is visible on one record rather than across a year of separate approvals
  • A complete history of who approved what, when, and on what evidence

Where the donations and sponsorship money actually goes

Volume, value and approval rates by region, business unit and recipient, with the records behind every number.

  • See which recipients receive repeatedly, and from which parts of the business
  • Track the ratio of approved to rejected requests by region, which tells you whether a threshold is set wrong
  • Report to the board on the program, with the underlying requests one click away

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a donation or sponsorship disclosure, and what should it include?
A disclosure is the record of a proposed payment: who is asking, who receives the money, why, how much, and what makes it sensitive. A complete one names the receiving organisation or individual, the business rationale, the amount and currency, the jurisdiction, any conflict of interest the requester has with the recipient, supporting documentation, and the results of sanctions and adverse media screening on the beneficiary. Where the recipient is connected to a public official or a decision-maker at a customer, that connection is disclosed on the request rather than discovered later. The more complete the record at submission, the less a reviewer has to reconstruct.
Why do companies run a disclosure process, and what happens when a request is high-risk?
Because a donation or a sponsorship is a payment to a third party with no goods or services coming back, which is the structure a bribe takes. The process exists to establish a business rationale before the money moves and to leave evidence that someone with authority looked. A request flagged as high-risk goes to enhanced review: diligence on the recipient's ownership and board, additional documentation, legal or compliance sign-off, and in some cases senior management approval. The threshold that triggered it, the evidence gathered, and the reasoning behind the decision are all recorded, so the file shows the control operated rather than just the outcome.
How is risk assessed on a donation or sponsorship request?
On the recipient rather than the request. Who controls the receiving organisation, who sits on its board, whether any of them is a public official or connected to one, where it is registered, and whether it or its principals appear on sanctions or adverse media. Alongside that sit the request's own factors: the amount, whether a tender or contract negotiation is live with anyone connected to the recipient, and whether the employee proposing it has a relationship with the organisation. Screening and scoring handle the first pass; the judgment on business rationale stays with a reviewer.
What happens if a donation or sponsorship request is flagged as high-risk?
If a request is identified as high-risk, it typically undergoes additional review. This may include verifying the organization’s background, requesting extra documentation, escalating to legal or compliance leadership, or involving senior management. Decisions are documented to show that appropriate oversight and controls were followed.
What makes a donation or sponsorship a bribery risk?
The recipient's connection to a government official, a decision-maker at a customer, or a party to a live tender. The payment is legitimate on its face; the exposure is in who benefits.
How do we handle a donation to an organisation connected to a public official?
Enhanced diligence on the recipient's ownership and board, documented business rationale, senior approval, and a record of why it was approved.
What's the difference between a donation, a sponsorship and a charitable contribution?
Genuinely confused in practice, and a sponsorship carries commercial benefit back to you, which changes the analysis. This is the definitional question your audience actually has.
