Every year compliance professionals strive to create best-in-class programs. Programs that not only reduce the risk for their organizations but also increase efficiencies, decrease cost, and provide management with a birds-eye-view into their organization.
While the nature of compliance is critical to business, many times it is overlooked by the larger organization or only seen as a reactive function rather than proactive. This year, the team at GAN wanted to recognize some of the often unnoticed work that compliance officers do on a daily basis, which is why we’ve launched Compliance Heroes.
GAN has the unique opportunity to work with countless compliance teams throughout the world, and witness first-hand what it takes to run a successful program. Compliance officers are the unsung heroes of most organizations, which is why we are excited to launch this program to increase awareness and attention to the incredibly important role these individuals play.
Compliance Heroes is a new program that will explore the most critical side of compliance, the people. The Compliance Hero Award specifically has been designed to recognize a forward-thinking individual who is truly a pioneer in the compliance industry. A Compliance Hero is someone who is not only building a world-class compliance program for a global company and also shares GAN’s belief that the right technology can revolutionize the compliance function.
Meet This Year's Compliance Hero
Matt Galvin, Vice President of Ethics and Compliance at Anheuser-Busch InBev (AB InBev), has been named the 2018 Compliance Hero. AB InBev’s compliance program (BrewRight) is widely known as one of the most cutting-edge largely because of Galvin’s vision and implementation of new processes. Galvin has taken a unique approach to how the legal team handles its data and has developed a program that elevates the compliance function within the organization. Galvin and the AB InBev compliance team have also been recognized by Financial Times for the Best Use of Legal Data and were presented with the FT Intelligent Business Award.
On November 27th, GAN hosted the first-ever Compliance Heroes Dinner in conjunction with the 35th International Conference on the FCPA in Washington, DC. The dinner gathered some of the best minds in compliance to honor this year’s Compliance Hero.
